Born in Montreal, Tom grew up in Guelph, Ontario, where he attended John F. Ross C.V.I.  After high school, he spent four months traveling through India and Thailand before earning his Bachelor of Science degree with First-Class Honours from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Tom holds degrees in both Common Law and Civil Law from McGill University's Faculty of Law, consistently ranked among the best law schools in the world.

Tom was called to the Bar in 2018, and has been practicing in Guelph since he returned to his hometown in 2019 to open his own practice.

Outside of the Courtroom, Tom volunteers with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Guelph, and spends lots of time outdoors with his pet Great Dane, Artemis.
